Eye opener

A fellow student tried to use a program's trial version and had to sign a License Agreement with the following as the first term.

I am not a citizen, national or resident of, and am not under the control of, the government of: Cuba, Iran, Sudan, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Syria, nor any other country to which the United States has prohibited export.

I know these countries are under embargo, but such statements still surprise me. Embargo is a general term, something that simply exists, till you come across it, that's when it becomes real. The program can be replaced with others that don't have such restrictions, medicines cannot. I just hope that if I ever create or contribute to anything good enough to become a commercial product, it will be accessible to everyone of whatever nationality.
