World eBook Library Consortia

This will be lost on non-Greek speakers, but I just had to share.

From World EBook Library a phrase

in French:
Cliquetez ici pour s'inscrire votre établissement en tant que membre.

in German:
Klicken Sie hier , um Ihre Anstalt als Mitglied einzuschreiben.

in Greek:
Χτυπήστε εδώ για να εγγράψετε το όργανο σας ως μέλος.

I may have a naughty mind, but "όργανο"?! I don't know German so I can't judge the German word, but the French looks right. And what about "χτυπήστε"? Why should I hit/beat the link? In other languages click is good enough, but apparently not in Greek. Heaven forbid we use a word produced from a sound, a word that's not Greek. As it is I spent a good five minutes laughing.

"Anstalt" is weird as well. I keep thinking about a mental home. That's what "Anstalt" is often used for in short.

It's so ridiculous that it's unlikely to have been translated by a greek speaker. The site was probably localised using an automatic translator, which is a shoddy practice for any use. Can you provide the link for this phrase?

Found it, it's an automatic translation, alright; serves 'em right. Coupled with the slightly suggestive image above, it'll be good for a few laughs when sent to professional translation mailing lists :-)

Cashima, mental home is an interesting option, but I still think ours is better. :p

Oneiros, I have to admit I didn't spend a lot of time in that site to see how they translate it; someone else pointed it out to me.

Amelie, I guess I wasn't paying attention to what I was typing. A friend told me yesterday that "cliquetez" was weird. I should have caught that error. On the other hand "s'inscrire" was too much for me. Funny, I didn't expect grammar errors, usually it's syntax and semantics.
